Joanna Lunin MA, BSN

Joanna Lunin, a former Registered Nurse, is now an LPC at River’s Edge Counseling + Wellness in Houston, TX. While working at Houston Methodist Hospital, she noticed patterns of disengagement and hypoarousal in patients with end-stage CHF and kidney failure. Her search for answers led her to Dr. Nadine Burke Harris’s research on childhood trauma’s link to chronic illness. This understanding drove her to leave nursing and pursue counseling. Now, she bridges counseling and medicine, raising awareness of trauma’s impact on health to improve patient outcomes and support the well-being of healthcare workers.
